[Julia in full plumage] [Lookin' good]
I made this white cotton shirt in January, 2001. It is the first piece of clothing I've made all by myself, except for small things like scarves. It's also the biggest weaving project I've done entirely on my own, and was completed in about two weeks. It's about as simple as can be--white cotton thread at 24 e.p.i., woven in plain weave in a long strip 10" wide on my table loom.

Two 60" long pieces form the body, folded at the shoulders and stitched together down the back and along the sides. The stitching is fairly crude, and was done with the same thread used to make the cloth. Two 20" long pieces form the sleaves, folded at the top and stitched together with a seam a little bit down at the back. It's simple, pretty, and comfortable, and I'm quite pleased with it. I can wear it alone or over something else. In these pictures, I'm wearing it along with "scarf II," which I also wove myself. This is really more of a sash, and one of my favorite accessories.
