Kitchen - basics:
- Trash Bags
- **Ecover's biodegradable trash bags
I don't have a compost pile, so I haven't had the chance to see Ecover's bags actually biodegrade, but I see no reason why they wouldn't (they're made by suspending the plastic in a matrix of carbohydrates that can break down, by Ecover's description.)
- **Seventh Generation's recycled plastic trash bags
30post/70pre.
- Paper towels - Seventh Generation recycled paper
If you must use paper towels.
- **Dish detergent (for dishwasher) - Ecover dishwashing powder.
- Dish soap -
- **Veggie Wash - Veggie Wash
Natural, food-grade, partially citrus-based cleaner for cleaning waxes, pesticides, germs off of produce. I like it for that purpose. But it ALSO makes a wonderful ant-spray! It leaches the water right out of their bodies. They twitch a little and then they die. Faster and more effective than many neurotoxin bug-sprays, or so I hear (having never used such products).
- Kitchen towel - Colorgrown Organic cotton $6. If you want a set of three (one of each color--natural, green, and that pretty desert brown), buy them at Greenfeet for $15.25 and save about $3 (but I haven't compared shipping costs, so maybe not).
- Organic Cotton string bags -
Ecobags - 4/$32 2 tote, 2 shoulder. (that's $8/ea). here they're 7.25ea.
